INTRODUCTiON

My name is Molly and I am 23 years old. I am the middle child of 5 children (1 older brother and sister and 2 younger sisters), but do no suffer from 'middle-child syndrome' =)...my family is my life. Game night, movie night, and family dinners is where I can truly be myself. My large immediate family also includes 3 nephews who consume a lot of my time and have taught me a lot about Batman and Ben 10. Along with spending time with my family, I love being around my closest friends and being with my boyfriend.

I am a returning student to IUPUI after a 2 1/2 year break. I was pursuing a career in retail management and was volunteering as a cheerleading coach for my youngest sister's squad when I discovered my love for working with kids. I will never forget the first day that one of my girls thanked me for helping them and that they loved cheering because of me. It was an amazing feeling. Since then I knew that I wanted to go back to school for elementary education.

I would not consider myself computer savy at all. With the exception of school and Facebook (of course), I make it a point to stay away! I was intimidated by this assignment and thought this blog was going to be very challenging, but found it to be far from that. The only thing that was hard for me was getting it to look the way I wanted it to. My advice is to pick something-font, colors, designs, etc.- and then change it a few times to see what all you can do. If you like to detail, it will be fun for you!

  1. Hi Molly,
I enjoyed reading your blog posts so far. I like the font color you chose. It goes well with your background. I also enjoyed reading about your discovery of your love for working with kids. It's funny how life works out sometimes..... :)

  2. I also enjoyed reading about how you discovered your love for working with children...I also changed my major (from languages - was going to be a translator) because I wanted to do something with children. Also, I think Elementary Education is a lot more worthwhile of my time and effort!

  3. Molly, this is a great looking blog! Nice work on your Power Point. I love your requirements over in the corner and your comments about creating the blog. When I read the assignment I was thinking, oh boy, here we go...but then it wasn't bad at all. I also loved your story about wanting to get into education. Since I taught dance classes I know how you feel! It's great to have a kid tell you they like something because YOU taught it to them. Good luck with school! And with this class!

  4. Molly,
I love that you're really family orientated. I think family and friends are the most important thing in life. I saw you did your powerpoint on Hawaii. Are you from there? Your blog looks great. Good luck with this semester!

  5. Molly - I like your blog! The little things you added like the Coco Chanel quote and your 'myrequirements' part are fun and good way to make the blog more personal. Family is really important to me too! Game night and cooking at my parents' house are two of my favorites. Great job on your blog and again I really like your personalizations to it!

  6. Thank you all for the nice comments! I hope everyone is enjoying the class and learning as much as I am! I was born and raised in Indiana, but I visited Hawaii back in July and it was unlike anywhere I have ever been. I could not get over the culture shock from one of our own 50 states. It was amazing!
